Cameras Don’t

Make Photographs,

Photographers Do

(and other secrets learned over 30 years shooting advertising)

There will be three 3-hour sessions over two days at $50 each session, or all three for $125. This workshop is for the amateur to the advanced. Here is the sign up page link: http://www.thelightroompc.com/classes/joe-boris-photography-workshops/

Session 1  Saturday, November 18 ~  9AM-12:00PM “Making Your Camera Capture the Best Image” (Amateur and Up)

No matter what brand or model, your camera is only a tool, no smarter than its user. Getting the very best from it requires shooting in RAW, but every capture can be made better by understanding your camera’s capabilities, and telling it how best to use them. Just because “pixels are free” doesn’t mean you should waste them. BRING: your camera

Session 2  Saturday, November 18 ~  2:30-5:30PM: “Making Light Work For Your Capture”  (Advanced Amateur and Up)

Making light best serve your creative needs whether ‘found’ or ‘manufactured’, on location or in-studio is made easier by understanding the ‘Four Characteristics of Light’, the two laws that govern its dynamics, and its psychological effects within your image. Discussion of applied theory, and demo using simple tools for high-quality control and effects, indoors and out, Tungsten, Strobe, and LED. BRING: a note pad and pen for note taking

Session 3  Sunday, November 19 ~ 1:30-4:30PM:“Making Images Capture Your Vision, Using Lightroom” (Interested Amateur and Up)

Optimizing all image files including JPEGs, TIFFs and RAW in Digital Post Production, with an emphasis on 14b RAW file capture for unlocking the beauty hidden among the 16,384 levels of tones and colors, compared to the 256 levels in a JPEG file. ‘Stand-alone’ (disc version) of Lightroom 6.0 will be used, but the knowledge applies to all LR versions (and others). BRING: your laptop with Lightroom
