DO NOT FRAME your work, we will use clips / gator zags to attach to walls.

We can not accept actual skateboard decks.

ALL TYPE OF MEDIUMS  Acrylics, Oil, Watercolor, Collage, Pen and Ink, Pencil, Coloring Pencils, Pastels, Finger Paint, 3D, Block Print ~ ON ANY TYPE OF SURFACE. Paper, cardboard, wood, cloth, poster board, plastic, etc. We will hang the artwork on the carpeted walls in theHigby Gallery.

SKATEBOARD DECK ART CHALLENGE SPECS

 

Skateboard art is one of the newest and coolest mediums there is for an artist. Deck art is self expressive and goes places most other art can not. All original art entries will be will be on display in the Higby Gallery and judged based on:
Design  |  Creativity  |  Originality of Design

AWARDS; First, Second, Third place will receive VANS merchandise. A backpack, tee shirt, shoes, socks. First place also gets a cash prize. Details to come!

SIZE REQUIREMENT Image area is 8.5 inches wide by 32 inches tall. Art can be either horizontal or vertical and will be displayed as artist requests.  A sample of the shape is shown here but you do not need to use the template.  All art must be 8.5 x 32 inches of any type of medium. It’s actually better to be slightly oversized than to be under the 8.5 x 32 inches. Nudes are acceptable. Graphic violence and/or lewd sexual content is not allowed. No entries may depict copyrighted images, characters, logos, unless the copyright is owned by the artist. The only exception is if it is a parody, which is allowed under the ‘Fair Use’ policy.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT No entrees via email/internet. This is a gallery show and all art must be able to hang on the gallery walls for viewing. The medium is open but the size must be 8.5 x 32 inches. Use a template or not! (download template at bottom of page)

ELIGIBILITY There are no age restrictions, all artists are eligible. Only one entry per person. No joint entries will be allowed, and submit your design using your real name.

JUDGING A judge will choose three winners. Sponsor is Relief Skate Supply.

AWARDS First, Second and Third place winners will all receive a back pack, shoes, socks, tee shirt and sticker pack. The first place winner will also a receive $50 cash prize. 

SALES AND COMMISSION If your work is for sale, the Center for the Arts gratefully retains a commission of 40% for all works sold. The price listed on the entry form must include this commission. Center for the Arts will handle all sales. All art will remain on display for the duration of the exhibition. Artist will be compensated approximately one month after the close of the exhibition by Bay Arts Alliance.

LIABILITY While in the custody of the Center, all artwork shall be insured. Center for the Arts, employees, directors, members, volunteers or anyone connected with the exhibiting, will not be responsible for loss or damage, however caused. Submission of artwork to this show indicates acceptance of these conditions.

PUBLICITY  Your entry into this exhibition constitutes permission for Center for the Arts to photograph or reproduce any and all works in the exhibit for the purposes of advertising, publicity and/or archival records, without compensation to the artist. We also will use your image on social media unless you specifically request us not to use it.
